New Delhi/Agra: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gifted development projects worth more than Rs 6,466 crore in Agra. A large number of people were present in the program and the government called it a big step for the city.

Can 'Greater Agra' really become a new city?

The government says that this will not be just a colony but an entire planned area. Here the plan is being prepared keeping in mind all three things, living, working and investment. If everything goes according to plan, the map of Agra may change.

Is there anything in it for common people also?

Facilities like housing, roads, water, electricity are being talked about in the plan. That is, in a way, it is being considered as a project like building a new city. However, an eye will be kept on when and how the work will start at the ground level.

Will the schemes worth Rs 6,466 crore remain limited to paper only?

The chief minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several projects. These include works related to roads, sewers, water and city infrastructure. Now the real challenge will be to complete them on time.

Is there an attempt to change the identity of Agra?

Till now Agra is mostly seen as the city of Taj Mahal. But the government is talking about taking it forward and making it a modern city. That means, along with tourism, the focus will also be on industry and investment.

Can this increase employment opportunities?

The hope of employment is also associated with big projects. It is being said that local people will get work, but it will depend on how fast the projects get off the ground.

Is this part of the state's bigger plan?

Experts believe that this is not limited to Agra only. Work is being done on plans to develop different cities in the state in a new way. Greater Agra is considered to be a part of that chain.
